I was thinking about what I should write for this blog, and for some odd reason I was stumped on what event in my life I should write about. I am assuming it has something to do with a narrative paper that had to do with an event in my life. So maybe my heads just fried from all the thinking iv been doing about myself the last two days writing this paper, and also writing blogs about my life. But I decided I could talk about something recently:
So just recently I was on my way home from school, just like any ordinary day of my life. Of course it was hot out, therefore I had my windows down. I was flipping through my favorite radio stations; 106.9, 9.33, 9.55. I was pulling up to a stop light and decide I don’t want to listen to the commercials that were planning so I quickly change the station. One of my favorite songs from the Counting Crows comes on the radio, then there’s a tap on my window. Like any normal person I was startled and I most likely said something along the lines of “what the F***” and to my surprise it was a firefighter hold up his boot. What would be the first thing that pops into your head when this happens to you? That is probably very similar to what ran across my noggin the second I saw this. I rolled down my window wishing the light would’ve turned green already, but to my dismay, traffic was still whizzing by on the street in front of me, no green light.
It just so happens to turns out that this Mr. Fire Fighter Guy was collecting money to help fight muscular dystrophy. I give him a couple bucks in his boot and go on my way. Later on down the road I am sitting at another stoplight and a woman knocks on my window and tells me about her organization and how they are raising money with Saint Jude to help fund cancer research. I gave her a couple dollars and went on my way.
That night as I am pulling out of target there is a man standing on the side of the road with a sign asking for money or food. I pulled over and gave him 3$ and told him to go to Wendy’s. The only reason I did this was because I had others in the car with me and because I thought back to earlier that day and remembered the firefighter and the woman for Saint Jude, and I decided why not help one more person.

What a cool post, Emilly! I know people have very different ideas about whether to give money to our homeless population. It looks like you figured out your answer to that question.
